I've always been passionate about making a difference in our Louisville community. And that's why I dedicate substantial time to my Environmental, Social, and Governance services.  

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) refers to the three key factors in measuring the sustainability and societal impact of an organization. These factors are integral in gauging the future financial performance and the long-term prosperity of a business.  

Environmental criteria consider how a company performs as a steward of nature. Social criteria examine how a company manages relationships with its employees, suppliers, customers, and the communities where it operates. Governance deals with a company’s leadership, executive pay, audits, internal controls, and shareholder rights.  

Understanding the significance of ESG helps ensure that we adopt an all-encompassing approach in my legal practice, one that is responsive to not just the present, but also the future needs of the Louisville, Kentucky, community.

Churches & Public Policy

Churches have a unique role to play in our society. They can provide forums for pressing social issues, engage in nonpartisan efforts during campaign seasons, and make their voices heard on important issues.  

So have you ever wondered how churches can get involved in public policy without crossing any legal lines? It's like walking a tightrope, isn't it? One wrong move and you could lose your 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. But don't worry, I'm here to help. 

The key is staying nonpartisan and not engaging in substantial lobbying — you have to be fair and impartial. 

That's where I come in. I provide legal assistance and strategic advice to churches and other religious organizations right here in Louisville. I guide them through the restrictions placed on their activities and publications, helping them maintain their tax-exempt status while still making a difference in our community. 

Green Technology Consultant

Also key to the community is the development of clean energy solutions. I offer consulting services for commercial solar farms and wind farms.  

As a wind power consultant, I assist clients in selecting sites for their projects, obtaining permits and clearances to build, negotiating power purchase agreements with electric utilities to sell the electricity generated by their projects to the grid, and more.

My Journey So Far

I’ve been fortunate to be part of several notable cases and projects throughout my career that have made a significant impact. Take, for example, the city-wide book club I staffed and led focused on racial justice. It drew national bestselling authors and engaged thousands of readers. Then there was the crisis I managed involving a prominent Black pastor and an unwarranted traffic stop, resulting in positive reform in documenting traffic stops. 

I’ve also had the privilege of providing legal, networking, and strategic counsel to national social justice and workers' rights organizations, contributing to coalitions and chapters across America. And let's not forget about arranging zoning and administrative changes for renovation and construction projects to meet vital real-estate needs. These experiences have shaped my approach to law and reinforced my commitment to fighting for social justice and equality. 

My journey in environmental, social, and governance law has equipped me with extensive leadership consulting experience in coalition-building, progressive faith relationships, labor-community coalitions, job growth, alt-labor organizations, high-road business partnerships, economic development, strategic planning, and communication.
